Rihanna stars in Balmain’s spring/summer 2014 campaign (France)

Balmain, the celebrated French fashion house, has roped in popular Barbadian recording artist Rihanna to star in its upcoming spring/summer 2014 campaign, directed by Atelier Franck Durand.

Slated to be featured in various international fashion publications from January, 2014 onwards, the advertisement images showcases the Bajan singer, styled by her personal stylist Mel Ottenberg, posing in some of the pieces from the brand’s S/S collection, debuted earlier this year.

Shot by Dutch photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin in New York, the campaign pictures show the 25-year-old songstress in a black leather boiler suit, a round-shouldered pink dogtooth check coat with reversed cuffs as well as a white and gold chain accented denim top paired with high-waisted trousers.

Designed under the aesthetic guidance of the brand’s Bordeaux-born young creative director Olivier Rousteing, the S/S 14 collection includes a gold-buttoned baby-blue quilted leather trouser, a feathered skirt, a long sleeve white mini dress and gilded overalls.

Founded in 1945, Balmain is known for its chic couture designs, favoured by the likes of Angelina Jolie, Penélope Cruz, Alexandra Kerry, Tatiana Sorokko, Kate Moss and Kristin Davis.
