Gucci ‘Black Widow’ Patrizia Reggiani inspires musical

Patrizia Reggiani in Milan on October 3, 2013

She was dubbed the 'Black Widow' and turned up to the trial of the murder of her ex-husband in fur coats and stilettos - despite being in prison.
Now, Patrizia Reggiani is free, and her story is to be told on stage by Doris Productions Limited at the Arts Theatre London.
An hour-long performance of Mrs Gucci on the evening of Sunday, October 13, promises to 'give both a flavour of the music and the impetus of the narrative,' with the full show scheduled to go ahead in 2014.

Julie Atherton will sing the role Reggiani, who was imprisoned in 1998 for arranging the murder of her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, heir to the Milanese fashion house, which was carried out by a hit man in a case which captivated the Italian media. Gucci had left Reggiani for a younger woman.
Bart Edwards will play the late Maurizio Gucci and Graham MacDuff will sing his cousin, Paolo.

The play has been in the pipeline for several years, but 64-year-old Reggiani has not any involvement in the production. It was rumoured that she had landed a consultancy role with Italian jewellery brand Bozart.
