British man 'killed by fall' in the Italian Alps

The Foreign Office is investigating reports that a British man has died while climbing in the Italian Alps.
According to the Italian news agency Ansa, a Briton fell to his death from a precipice on Mont Blanc.
Italian police have confirmed that a climber died on Wednesday morning.
A spokesman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: "We are aware of the reports of the death of a British national in Italy and we are urgently looking into them.
"We stand ready to provide consular assistance."
According to Ansa, the man's body was taken to the town of Courmayeur, at the foot of Mont Blanc in the Aosta Valley.
Mont Blanc spans the French-Italian border and is the highest mountain in the Alps mountain range.
