Erykah Badu to star in Givency’s spring-2014 campaign

Storied French fashion house Givenchy has picked up the famous American singer-songwriter Erykah Badu as the face of its forthcoming campaign.

Known for casting models from diverse backgrounds, the brand’s current womenswear Creative Director Ricardo Tisci has signed on the 42-year-old R&B songstress to front his new Spring-2014 collection advertisement.

Shot by the well-known fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, the upcoming Africa-meets-Japan themed line campaign will also feature models like Maria Borges, Asia Chow and newcomer Riley.

For the past three seasons, the Italian designer Tisci has been introducing some of the most unusual faces to star in the luxury label’s campaigns, such as the Roitfeld mother-daughter pair Carine and Julia Restoin, albino model Stephen Thompson and the transgender former Givenchy muse Lea T.

Founded in 1952, headquartered in Paris, Givenchy specializes in both men’s and women’s ready-to-wear and haute couture clothing.
